For Newcastle upon Tyne, the directory lists [Pulsant Newcastle Central NE-1](https://datacentrefinder.co.uk/data-centres/pulsant-newcastle-central-ne-1), from [Pulsant](https://datacentrefinder.co.uk/operators/pulsant). Pulsant describes NE-1 as colocation in the centre of Newcastle, a 557 m² building with 464 m² of data hall space, and credits it as the first data centre to receive ISO 27001 certification.

Pulsant publishes 720 kW of total IT power from 100% renewable energy procurement, N+1 UPS redundancy, an N standby power configuration and N+1 cooling, with VESDA smoke detection, double-knock alerts and gas fire suppression. Pulsant sells quarter, half and full racks, and high-density racks for heavier loads.

Connectivity is carrier-neutral, with diverse cable routing, a cloud on-ramp and cross connects. Pulsant lists seven networking and peering providers on site: BT, Cogent, CommsWorld, Lumen, Virgin Media, Vodafone and Zayo. NE-1 is also on the Pulsant Edge Fabric, which Pulsant describes as a 100Gb national network joining its 14 interconnected UK data centres, with low-latency access to more than 1,600 cloud services, network providers and partners. That city location and carrier mix is why Pulsant pitches the site for edge computing and as a point of presence for connectivity providers.

The building is at 5 Bridge View, Stepney Lane (NE1 6PN). Newcastle's main station is an LNER-managed stop; National Rail records 481 parking spaces and only partial step-free access (category B2), worth knowing if you are wheeling in kit. Pulsant does not publish walking or driving times to the site.

On-site facilities include a build room, equipment storage, a meeting room, a breakout area and remote hands, which helps when engineers travel in for installs. Pulsant says it runs five data centres across four locations in the North of England. Security covers CCTV, keycard access, perimeter fencing and remote monitoring.

NE-1 is currently the only live North East listing on Data Centre Finder, and Pulsant's other northern sites are not yet in the directory. For a second site elsewhere in the UK, browse the [UK data centre directory](https://datacentrefinder.co.uk/data-centres).
